Looking for an exciting way to complete your community service hours? York-Durham Heritage Railway, a nonprofit run primarily by volunteers, is seeking energetic and engaging individuals to join our crew. Whether as an Ambassador for the railway, or providing on-board services, volunteering with us will provide you with ample opportunities to engage with the community.

Keeping the grounds and equipment in shape and in working order is an ongoing endeavor. We rely on our hard-working and friendly volunteers to keep the railway in top form. If you are looking for ways to complete your community service hours, why not consider the railway?

We need people to help:

  • as ambassadors; engage with customers before and during the train ride
  • cutting grass and clearing brush
  • maintaining the coaches
  • working on the tracks
  • assisting with special events
  • selling tickets on Sunday train rides
  • providing on-board services; ride the train and help with selling snacks and souvenirs

If you are interested, email us at ydhr@ydhr.ca and let us know where you would like to help. We are located at 19 Railway Street in Uxbridge. Supervision and training will be provided. Our operating season is June to December.
