How do I buy tickets?

Purchase tickets on-line

On the day of, tickets may be purchased at the station 45 minutes before train departure time. Note that this is based on availability. To avoid disappointment, it’s best to purchase tickets in advance.

What forms of payment can I use?

We accept PayPal, VISA, and MasterCard. Cash and debit are accepted at the station.

What are your terms and conditions?

There are no refunds or exchanges on any tickets purchased. Your e-ticket (printed or electronic) is required in order to board the train.

Can I ride in the caboose?

At the present time, the caboose is not operational. We hope to have it available in the future.

How early before departure should I arrive?

We recommend arriving at the station no later than 30 minutes prior to departure.

Can I bring my own lunch?

We do not allow outside food or beverages. YDHR does provide food and beverages for sale, to help further our goal of restoring heritage equipment.

Do you sell food on the train?

We have a snack car which currently offers packaged treats and drinks. Many of our themed events come with catered meals included or as an available option when booking your tickets

Are the trains air-conditioned and/or heated?

Yes.

Can I bring my dog?

Unfortunately only service dogs are permitted on the train.

What can I do in Uxbridge?

There are restaurants, gift shops, coffee shops and pubs within a 5-minute walk from the station.

Is there anything to do at the Uxbridge Train Station?

We have a railway museum located on the premises.

What can I do in Stouffville?

Restaurants, gift shops and coffee shops are within a 5-minute walk from the station.

Can I reach the railway stations by public transit?

GO Transit operates buses to both Uxbridge and Stouffville on weekends, stopping at both stations.

There is no York Region Transit weekend service to Stouffville and there is no Durham Region Transit weekend service to Uxbridge.

Are there washrooms on the train?

There are two washrooms, including one that is wheelchair accessible (Car 106).

What can I do on-board during the trip?

You are free to move about the train. One exception to this is during the Santa Train Ride as Santa does move from coach to coach and we wouldn’t want the kids seeing Santa too early. We have the doors open baggage car, snack car and souvenir stand. There is also on-board family entertainment during the ride.

What is a Family Pass?

2 adults and 2 children (12 and under)

What is a Group of 4 ticket for the Santa Train?

The ticket can include any combination of ticket types (ex. 4 adults) and is different from our Family of Four (Family Pass) offered during the regular season.

Do you have any regular service during the week?

No, we have regular operations on Saturdays and Sundays only.

Do you offer any mid-week trips?

We welcome groups and charters of 55 people and more for a dining experience. Please contact us at ydhr@ydhr.ca for more information.

Can I reserve a car on the train for a private function?

Yes. This option is available both on the weekend and during the week based on availability. Please email us at ydhr@ydhr.ca for more information.

Can I hold my child’s birthday on the train?

Yes, during our operating season (June to October). Please contact us with your request at ydhr@ydhr.ca for more information.

Do the trains run on holiday Mondays?

No, the train for the general public operates on weekends only.

My child is under 2 years of age. Do I need to purchase a ticket for her/him?

Children under 2 who sit on the parent’s lap (i.e. do not occupy a seat) do not need a ticket for our regular rides. For the Santa Train, children under 1 ride for free.
