What is Day Out With Thomas™?
Peep Peep! Everyone’s favourite storybook engine, Thomas the Tank Engine™ is chugging his way into the GTA at York-Durham Heritage Railway for the Steam Team Tour!

Thomas fans and their families will have a unique opportunity to climb aboard a heritage train pulled by a life-size working replica of Thomas the Tank Engine for a 25-minute train ride. Each child will receive a junior engineer certificate after the train ride as a souvenir. Be sure to get your photo with Thomas while he’s waiting at the station.

Off the platform, meet and snap your photo with Sir Topham Hatt™, the Controller of the Railway. Visit the Imagination Station for face painting, colouring activities, mega blocks and temporary tattoos of your child’s favourite engine.

Enjoy Thomas storytelling and videos on-board the rules car. Children can re-create their favourite Thomas stories at the train tables located in our doors-open baggage car.

Check out our interactive live entertainment stage featuring musicians, a juggler on stilts and magician. There are lots of other activities on-site including kiddie train rides, hay maze, jumping castle, Zoo to You, obstacle course, Thomas replica ride-on trains and more.

Testimonials

It was extremely well organized. The staff and volunteers were very friendly, enthusiastic and made the event a success. (I have never seen a bouncy castle run so smoothly—and safely!)

The location is excellent, right on Railway Street (!) with the original old style train station, lots of field space, working tracks, a wild collection of old cars, and for this event, a petting zoo (he liked the turtle) lots of hands-on play-toy rail events, pedal tractors, and smiling staff everywhere. Great experience for my kids with the Thomas event. (2017)

We will return for sure! The extra attractions are laid out well and perfect for the kids. We loved that we paid one price and everything thing else was included! Instructions to show up one hour prior to your scheduled train departure helps cycle time for all the activities so that there isn’t a long waiting time…. It was a great day and we plan to return. (2018)

It was our first time and we were so happy to experience it. Seeing our son enjoyed every moment of the train ride and the other activities made our hearts melt. And hopefully we can make it every year to attend. It was a wonderful way of spending family time. See you again soon Thomas and friends and all the friendly staffs. (2018)

My family had a great time at the day out with Thomas! Very well organized and the crew were all so approachable! Uxbridge is a beautiful community! Can’t wait to visit again! (2018)

Took my granddaughter (almost 3 yrs ). Lots to do. Did most activities 1st (chose age appropriate time length to be there – line up wait times pretty good, we walked everywhere, ending with big train ride finale, stopped at gift shop (got business card with photo info so I could view photos at home later) and left. Had so much fun. Will definitely go to this again. (2017)

We had a great day with Thomas! The little kiddie train was a big hit with my son. Lots to do and lots of friendly staff/volunteers. We will be back next year for Thomas and will definitely come for other events. Love the restored train cars. (2017)

This was our 3rd year and my son absolutely loved it. The staff was very accommodating with his special needs. The set up and fun areas keep getting better and we look forward to what next year brings (2017)
